A small, sheltered sandy beach on Alderney’s north coast, reached from the Saye area through a short tunnel whose arched opening gives the beach its name. It is a popular spot for swimming and family paddling, and at lower tide exposed rocks can provide a temporary connection to neighbouring Corblets Bay.
These predictions use Braye Harbour, the Alderney reference location used by this service. Tide times and water levels at Arch Bay may differ from the prediction because of the local shoreline, weather, waves and atmospheric pressure. Times are shown in local Alderney time.

Arch Bay is a small sandy beach between Saye and Corblets on Alderney’s north coast. Rocky headlands give the cove some shelter, and from the beach there are views towards two Victorian forts and Mannez Lighthouse. It is a popular spot for swimming and family paddling when conditions are suitable.
The beach is reached from the Saye campsite area through a small tunnel, and the arched opening at one end gives Arch Bay its name. There is no direct vehicle access, so visitors complete the final approach on foot.
Around low tide, rocks between Arch and Corblets are exposed and may provide a temporary route between the two beaches. This is an uneven, slippery and entirely tide-dependent shoreline connection rather than a permanent footpath. Cross only in calm conditions, leave ample time and turn back before the water begins covering the route.
Lower tide also exposes rocks and strandlines around the bay, making Arch a useful spot for beachcombing. Leave any marine life where you find it, replace any stones you lift and take all your rubbish away.
There are no lifeguards on Alderney’s beaches. The rocky setting gives Arch some shelter, but it remains a north-coast beach and can be affected by northerly winds. Assess conditions before swimming and supervise children closely.
The width and character of Arch Bay change considerably through the tide. Around higher water, much of the lower beach is covered and the remaining area of exposed sand becomes narrower.
As the tide falls, the sandy beach widens and more rocks, pools and strandline are revealed around its edges, making Arch a useful spot for beachcombing.
Around low tide, exposed rocks may create a temporary connection to Corblets Bay. The route is uneven, slippery and tide-dependent: do not wait for the rising water to reach the crossing before returning, and use the normal land route if there is any doubt.
Rocks may be extremely slippery when wet or covered with seaweed. Actual water levels can also differ from the prediction because of atmospheric pressure, wind and waves.
