About the beach

Cobo Bay

Cobo is one of Guernsey’s best-known west-coast beaches. The bay has a broad area of pale sand at lower water, with granite outcrops and rock pools around the shoreline. Its open west-facing aspect gives wide sea views and makes it a popular place for evening visits and sunsets.

A kiosk, tearoom, fish and chip shop, pubs, restaurants and a hotel sit directly across the coast road, so it is an easy choice for spending a few unhurried hours by the sea. Cobo is exposed to westerly weather, and conditions can become rougher when the wind is onshore.

Tide & the beach

At lower water, Cobo opens into a broad sandy beach and rock pools appear around the rocky outcrops. The usable sand becomes much narrower as the tide rises, particularly on larger tides. Check both the predicted height and the time of high water before settling close to the sea wall. Rocks that are visible at lower water may be submerged later in the tide.
